What’s the Alternative?

Alternative medicine was the health care standard for thousands of years: now it is an alternative to conventional western medicine. Western medicine focuses on getting rid of symptoms caused by a dysfunction in your body while alternative medicine focuses on eliminating the underlying causes of the dysfunction and restoring your body to its natural balance.

Chiropractic

Many people think of chiropractic as working with the muscles and skeleton of the body. But it goes beyond that: the structural approach removes interferences in the nervous system, which controls and coordinates all other systems in your body. Treating a dysfunction in your nervous system helps all the other systems to work more effectively.

Nutrition

Our ancestors, who ate only real food, would not recognize 55% of the average American diet (soda, chips, candy bars) as food. Our modern diet leads to nutritional deficiencies that affect overall functioning. One result is that chiropractic treatments don’t have a lasting effect because the adjustments don’t hold. That’s why your doctor will teach you to eat correctly. If necessary, he will give you whole food based supplements, or in some cases neutraceuticals, to make up for the deficiencies.

Herbal medicine

Every culture has used herbs as medicine. Herbs contain chemical compounds that stimulate a certain reaction in the body. In fact, the chemistry in herbs is much more complex than that in pharmaceutical products. As with all medicines, you should only use herbs when needed to fix a specific problem, and only for the time needed. You should never take them permanently for prevention.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is based on the philosophy that a miniscule amount of a substance that causes a symptom in a healthy person, can cure those symptoms in a sick person. In order to minimize side effects, the substance is diluted. By the time you take the remedies, there is no trace of the original physical substance left. But therein lies it’s effectiveness, because the more it is diluted, the more the energy of the original substance is amplified. It’s this energy that stimulates your body to heal the problem.

It can be used at a low potency to stimulate your body to release toxins and improve its functioning or it can be used to address the totality of symptoms.

Acupuncture

This ancient Chinese system of healing also works with energy, but in a different way from homeopathy. Acupuncture is more specific because it removes interferences along the electrical pathways in the body so that energy can flow naturally, allowing your body to work properly.

Which one is best for me?

Your body knows. By using manual muscle testing (Applied Kinesiology) your doctor can determine not only what is wrong but also what will work best for you and your body. Two people with the same symptoms may require different treatments: one may need an adjustment and the other a homeopathic remedy. Applied Kinesiology allows your doctor to diagnose precisely and prescribe the treatment that is just right for you.

In this way, your body can work in the way it was designed to work, without using invasive procedures or chemical substances that are detrimental to your health.
